The William Low Trust Christmas Ball 2024

The William Low Trust

On Saturday 30th November, over 100 guests gathered at The Grange for The William Low Trust Christmas Ball – an evening filled with festivity, warmth, and generosity, all in memory of William, who lost his life to Medulloblastoma brain tumours just six weeks before his 18thbirthday.

The evening began with a heartfelt speech from William’s mum and CEO of The William Low Trust, Helen, and his sister, Harriet. They announced the incredible milestone news that The William Low Trust had completed funding of £143,657 to support Thomas Willott, a PhD student at the Brain Tumour Centre of Excellence at Queen Mary University of London. Helen also shared William’s powerful story, highlighting his courage and resilience throughout his life, and shared a beautiful reel of photos and videos along with his favourite song, Wake Me Up When September Ends (Green Day, 2004).

The event featured a luxurious three-course dinner, a lively auction led by Richard, and plenty of opportunities for festive fun. Auction highlights included fine whiskey, exclusive event experiences, signed football memorabilia, and a White Company advent calendar, to name a few. Guests also enjoyed a competitive game of Heads & Tails, a raffle with incredible prizes kindly donated by local businesses and supporters, and post-dinner entertainment that included a 360-degree photo booth. The evening concluded on the dance floor, where the DJ kept everyone dancing late into the night with iconic party anthems and Christmas classics!

The evening wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of the committee, who worked tirelessly to coordinate the event, raffle, and auction, and the wonderful support from The Grange venue. Thanks to the generosity of guests and supporters, the evening raised an incredible £4,945 in memory of William. These funds will contribute to further Medulloblastoma research in partnership with The Brain Tumour Charity, as well as providing some treat parcels for families affected by brain tumours.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, donated, and supported the William Low Trust. Together, we’re continuing to honour William’s legacy and advance critical research into brain tumours and provide support to those impacted by this devastating disease.

On behalf of The William Low Trust, we want to wish you all a peaceful Christmas as we reflect and remember those who can’t be with us. 💙
